Magazines.

Last week, I went to this magazine stall I usually go to now and then, that sell back issues of magazines. I first saw the Natalia Vodianova cover. I had seen this issue in the shops when it was on sale in August, but I never brought it. Then I saw the Lily Cole cover, and I decided to buy them both. Later that day, I was reading them and now I want to buy Harper's Bazaar as one of the regular magazines I always buy, such as Vogue and Elle. The content of Harper's Bazaar is amazing. There are so many articles and everyone of them intrigues me. For example, in the Cindy Crawford issue, the current one out now (which I brought the next day), there's a feature on the what three different working woman are interested in about the new season clothes, about how this season there are ''clothes' on the catwalk, not 'creations'. It shows how at Chloe, Stella McCartney and Celine, that the clothes are 'deliciously laid-back, luxe clothes, the type they could actually wear'. There's a feature on the new height of heels being so low. 'A life in Style', focuses on Donna Karan, there's the Cindy Crawford editorial. There's a feature on the photography of Deborah Turbeville, an article about Heathfield girls Boarding school, which has an alumnae of Savannah Miller, Sienna Miller, Isabella Blow and Tamara Mellon. The images within this magazine are incredible, and I cannot believe that I haven't read Harper's Bazaar until now. Every word is just so interesting and it is everything I want to read within a magazine. I really want to subscribe, but my Mum says I already collect to many...

The Lily Cole and Natalia Vodianova covers I brought...My favourite 3 magazines now goes in this order; 1. Elle, 2.Harper's Bazaar, 3. Vogue. I know that Vogue is amazing too, and I still love Vogue, but sometimes their writing, although I understand it, is just so complex, whereas Harper's Bazaar is more interesting to read. I admire all 3 magazines equally. The people that put these magazines together and just so talented, and I aspire to one day work alongside them. To work at Vogue, or Elle, Harper's Bazaar, would be like a dream! For my work experience in November, I worked at Sugar Magazine for a week. It was one of the best weeks ever, and I loved working there so much! But one of the things that excited me most about working there was the knowing the Elle magazine was going on just a few floors up, and that when I travelled on the train everyday, and walked up North Row, that one day if I can achieve my ambition of being a journalist for Elle, that that is where I would walk to everyday!

Alexander McQueen

I know I did a post about Alexander McQueen yesterday, but I just wanted to post some more pictures today. All of his shows were amazing, but I think his S/S 10 show was iconic.

Alexander McQueen...

I had been out to eat with my Parents. When I got home I checked Twitter, and it was then when I discovered the death of Alexander McQueen. It is now such a modern day and age, that it is by other peoples tweets, that I read in disbelief that he had killed himself. I think his death is tragic and its so saddening to think that the picture above was from his last show that he was alive to witness. He was the designer with the amazing knuckle clutches, the staggeringly high shoes, the designer that when I first started reading fashion magazines two years ago, was the one I remembered for having the models with their hair slicked across their faces. His designs were art....

Berlin Memory

Around this time last year, me and my friends would have been going to Berlin! I had the greatest time there. It was so cold, yet we'd wander around the streets of Berlin all day long, stopping at Starbucks every now and then when we started to wonder if we could get frost bite from how cold we all felt. We'd take pictures of buildings, half of which we didn't even know what they were called. We listened to our iPods, on repeat to Coldplay, as sometimes the sound of their music seemed to match how we felt; depressed from boredom of tirelessly walking, following a tour guide, it seemed like one street lead to another, and another, and another. Which it obviously did, being a city and all, but still. I guess we were only bored as all we wanted to do was be warm, when it was a temperature of -15 or something drastic like that. Also the fact we had had to wake up at 5 every morning to be ready for our 6 call time. I think my favourite thing about Berlin though, was the walking round but when it was starting to get dark and the city started to light up and look really pretty! I really want to go back soon!

Harper’s Bazaar US February 2010 Editorial

I hadn't yet come across the site http://fashiongonerogue.com/ until earlier on this evening. So I was looking on all the pages, up to about 15 pages back or something, saving all the images I liked as I went along... I saw this editorial which I hadn't seen before and I really looked the whole look of it. I loved the models vacant expression, the use of the massive prop flowers, I liked the models hair. Obviously I liked the clothes. I think most of all though I just liked the lighting, I think it makes each picture look so much more interesting :)

Natalia Vodianova Vogue February 2010

So I know that the February 2010 issue of Vogue with Natalia Vodianova has been out for weeks. And I know that the new issue should be out within the next few days. However, I wanted to post about it, because this cover is one of my favourite of Vogues ever! This issue has been sitting on my bed side table ever since I got it through the post at the beginning of January as opposed to being put in the draw with my other magazines! I think this cover really defines the prettiness of the SS10 shows. It combines some of my favourite trends from them such as the femininity, the prettiness of spring, and the use of pastels. I love how when this dress was on the Fendi catwalk, that it was this beautiful dress in a pale lilac colour made of delicate materials, yet it had been put with these bold black wedges. The wedges were able to take away some of the innocence that this look conveyed and without those shoes, I don't think would have been the same... I loved the hair at Fendi too!

This is the behind-the-scenes video from the making of the February 2010 Vogue Natalia shoot...
